Ah New York. So many wonderful restaurants tempting me at every turn. Moving to a new place in general shakes up your routine. Getting back into normalcy, especial when it comes to healthy habits, takes effort. I mean look at this food!
That’s some of the beautiful appetizers Anthony and I enjoyed before Korean BBQ! Worth it.
I have barely been cooking since moving here. It’s not that I have, in my eyes, the world’s tiniest kitchen. Or the fact that I have to lug groceries 5 blocks. Or even that I don’t have time to cook- although that is much more limited these days. My work actually provides me with breakfast and lunch every day. Cool perk, huh? This was a perk at other jobs I interviewed for in the city as well. And while it’s super wonderful and I really appreciate/enjoy it, it reduces my opportunity to cook.
While the food is mostly healthy at work, it’s harder to control how nutritious each meal will be. I need to learn new ways to eat clean-ish while some wonderful people prep for food me.
One of the ways I’m doing this is making smoothie snacks after work. I LOVE smoothies, and I do miss them for breakfast. I guess I could still make them in the morning, but oh well. I’m getting lazier in the morning.
PB&J Smoothie Snack (serves 1)
What you need:
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1/2 cup Kiefer
- 1 or 2 Green Cubes
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 spoonful peanut butter
What you do:
Blend and enjoy!
Not too super filling, but a great snack!
I’m also joining a gym this week! NYC is in so many ways more expensive than other cities. Gym memberships are on the list of cringe worthy prices when you first see them. But I managed to find a gym that offers me a bunch of classes (like Yoga!) at a more reasonable price than others. If you’re in the city and a Crunch member, maybe I’ll see you around!
