Even the healthiest of people will get sick from time to time. Right now, I’ve managed to catch some virus. When you’re not feeling well, it is that much more important to nourish your body with good foods. On top of eating lots of fruits and vegetables, I like to make a specific smoothie/juice (I call it a juice because it is very liquid-y) to get an extra boost of nutrients.
What you need: 3/4 cup fresh or frozen kale or spinach 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk 1/2 banana small spoonful of coconut oil (I love the Trader Joe’s version) decent sized spoonful of honey 1/2 tsp cinnamon What you do: Blend the kale and almond milk. This is done first in order the break down the kale completely. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend again. I use all of these ingredients for the fact that I’ve heard they have anti-bacterial and/or anti-viral properties (however, I won’t sight my sources because I don’t find infographics to be a truly valid source). The taste is very unique. You can taste the sweetness from the honey and tropical flavor of the coconut oil. Extra bonus: If you have a soar throat, the coconut oil will temporarily coat the back of your throat bringing you at least a brief moment of relief (at least it did for me!). *This post originally showed up on my Tumblr blog from 01/2014*
